Web Directions South 2008
Having just finalised my accommodation at a pub and Web Directions Workshop, I can sit back and tilt my chair. Last year I went to Web Directions in Sydney, as a guy whose skill set is somewhat limited I was stunned by the amount of awesome presentations and the passion of the attendees.
Without getting too sentimental I had an absolute blast last year and met a pile of great people who inspired me to push my own skills a bit. Even though I tended to fancy myself as a bit of a CSS smartypants, the entire industry opened up just talking to people. Whether it be after a few drinks at night, over a plate of food and a beer later on, or very, very quietly the next morning over a coffee, the discussions with people are awse.
This year I have a lot to look forward to again. Not only is the program piled full of stuff I really want to see(there isnt much code hotter than some nicely done CSS), a couple of hometown heroes are making the trek over to talk. My good mate, drinking buddy and current boss Kay Smoljak and another good mate and drinking buddy Myles Eftos will be doing Perth proud and no doubt giving some kickass presos.
This time I’ve also arranged my time over there to give me a bit more time to wander around aimlessly, drink coffee and raid all the sweet shops I remember from last time. Also, with my new found fish keeping hobby I want to check out that Aquarium.
So, anyone in Sydney, tell the pubs to dust off their pint glasses and join me for a kickass time!

Was great to see you coming back again Al - the very best indicator there is that we are doing the right thing. I think Kay and Myles are going to be awesome too
You do know you can’t fish at the aquarium?
@Maxine - I’m getting pretty psyched about getting back, unfortunately I couldn’t write everything I had to say as it started turning into gibberish as the clock ticked over to the morning
@Myles - Damn, I thought it was just because no one had caught anything successfully

oh the “dodgie brothers” pub, with the metal plate in the road. Agree this year should be good.
