Steady as she goes

If anyone has been paying attention, my blogging seems to go off on random tangents and never get anything done. I coulda sworn I was meant to be trying to design something…. So here is my list of excuses:

  • Web Directions
This is a big one, I’ve been wanting to go to this for quite some time now. Not that I have any idea what to expect, nor do I even know if I will understand whats happening once there. I have also signed up for this and a Progressive enhancement with JavaScript workshop. I am really excited(and usually not thrilled by much at all) about this and with under a month to go its on my mind. Also, Miles has been throwing around a Web Directions 2006 challenge, and looking at the responses, I am more than a bit wary of the amount of cameras at this place. I won’t even bother saying I will take it easy cos I know I won’t listen.
  • Progressive enhancement with JavaScript workshop
This is another big thing. Now, I love a challenge, but my current experience with Javascript is limited to adding sfHover scripts to site. If i get really clever I can add one to the footer nav too \m/ So with this in mind, I booked this workshop in a bit of a do or die(die being burn a lot of money) situation. Hopefully it will turn out well.
  • my Fatality Guide
This isn’t really a work related problem. It’s just always there. Its pretty much a hobby, but I have been getting emails to finish this guide a lot lately. Also the fact that my bandwidth is being bumped up and maxed out every day or so is just a reminder to finish this off. Its been a blast making it, but I will be breathing a little easier once its done.
  • Ninja Metal
I’ve been playing more guitar lately, which has been awse. As my hair grows longer the urge to rock increases at an exponential rate. I would draw a graph, but …. that would be stupid. I have been noodling around with a Japanese scale. I prefer to play in G cos thats where the artificial harmonics on my Ibanez and Warlock are the best so in rapid chopping and changing there are slight metal squeals between changes. I am yet to really use the scale properly, but whatever I come up with I will refer to as Ninja Metal, one of the many genres covered by Axe in the Head(AITH). Even ninjas need to rock out once in a while \m/

Looking forward to showing you the WDS social event methodology. Drink drink drink eat learn eat drink drink, you get the idea.

Aren’t you meant to be learning Dom Scripting in the next 20 days :)

    Al,

expect a totally kick arse conference, from some of the best there is, plus close to 600 (and maybe more) colleagues from all over Australia and round the region and the world, with great parties and social events, tech experiments aplenty, and all round inspiration and excitement.

Mind you I am a little biased,

    john
