I attended a small meetup of writers yesterday. I would not consider myself a writer and I would never really recommend anyone reads anything I do manage to vomit forth into ‘teh internest’. Nonetheless, I do enjoy the company and I had a hankering for 2 Flat Whites and a brownie. After a few hours of chatter and scrawling random notes that may or may not make any sense to me later on, I’d realised I’d essentially done nothing. I decided to write an interior monologue for, well… 5 minutes? 3 minutes? 1 ambient flamenco solo? Whatever it was, I started writing. Unfortunately, writing this way always reminds me of how little focus and attention I have at times. Fortunately, it makes me smirk at myself. Without any further dudes, here it is:

Man, this guy is really good at guitar.
I should play more, but I cant be fucked.
Shit, I’ve torn up my fingers anyway so how am I meant to hold a pick? Maybe it’ll be okay, its just the side of the fingers.
Fuck, he’s really, really good. He looks like he’s not paying attention.
He has that Zoolander hair. It’s so hot right now.

I wonder cow I can conciously break topic mid monologue. Is conciously even the right word? I have a feeling its not. Hey, how bout that, see what I did there? Considering the amount of people I can see, it seems really loud here. Maybe its just the 2 girls gossiping behind me. Its like, really like, important and stuff. There is also a kid in the opening of the laneway yelling. What the fuck, its not even consistent, its like an annoying vocal drive by.

Ah nuts, the guitar guy has left and music is on. Killing Me Softly by the Fugees. As opposed to Killing Me Loudly by the Roofies. Nice song but I don’t like that line. If looks could kill, if songs could maim, softly. This must be why I’m not a moderately successful musician, or hitman. The volume of my killing may be too inconsistent and inappropriate for it to be a viable profession.

Speaking of inconsistencies and… what’s an intelligent sounding word for loud? Go, go Gadget Thesaurus!!! Fuck, that would have been cool! How’s the exclamation marks?!?! Actually, where was I going… oh yeah, Gozdilla movies. Remind me to look for some in JB in 20 mins or so. Actually, even if you wanted to, it wouldn’t help. Check this out “make me a sammich”… nothing. “Simon says: make me a sammich”, see, at least one of you would have I reckon. Ah time, you make fools of us all you horse-riding, apocalyptic bastich. God, what the fuck music is this now? Some…. shit… Michael Jackson sounding… actually, is it him? I’m not really that familiar with his work and what I do know I don’t really like. True story.

I never did make it to JB…

I really don’t like to write about my feelings and emotions, but I guess the lack of sleep and time of year has pumped some foreign substance into my mecha-heart and I’m overwhelmed by feel the urge to express my feelings.
Faithful readers, I guess its not too uncommon, but I’m about to get a little weird.

Without you

Without you, I am nothing, when we’re together, I am everything.
I need you more that you know, more than you could ever imagine.
The intoxicating fumes of your body penetrate my very being.
The scent, drifting so delicately, arousing my senses with the faintest touch.

With no other will I ever experience the same euphoric pacifism as I do when I am with you.
Your warmth, your softness, your touch, lulls me into a serenity from which I will not wake.
When we are together, I lose myself in a trance of blissful delerium.
I feel whole, I feel we are one, I feel happy.

Coffee, I love you.

I forget how exactly it came about, but my good friend Levi and I have set up a little fun challenge. I like to play guitar. I’m not any good, but I like to play.

The ‘rules’ of the game are that Levi picks 2 songs, 1 acoustic, 1 electric(hopefully not the most complicated of tunes). Both songs I will not have heard, but I can grab a guitar tab. After a few hours of delicious noodling, I post a quick video of how I think the song sounds. After the video goes up, I find the real song, learn it for a week and post another video.

I guess its in similar vein to the other guitar videos on there that I use as a base for comparison and a bit of a motivational tool to get playing.

Anyway, here are the songs:

Acoustic Song – The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot by Brand New
Electric Song – Sowing season by Brand New

I didn’t really like Avatar. I saw it in 3D. It’s a pretty movie, I loved the mishmash of ‘Earth’ beasts they threw into the fray. The world itself looked great. It looked like a video game, complete with free-runnable terrain, rest areas/checkpoints and scenery for boss battles.

As a movie, it made me feel like I was an idiot. The amount of random scenes used to convey the message of “OMGZ RENEMBER DIS FOR LATER RITE? ETS REVELANT TO TEH ENDING…. KINDA” to the viewer, was borderline patronising. Specific scenes aside, it felt like the movie was just a visual showcase with story as an afterthought.

Funnily enough, I’ve found most people who adore the movie and applaud its MIGHTY aethetic prowess, agree with my thoughts(obviously not with the same intense disgust) regarding movie itself. In my unforgiving opinion, no amount of graphically enhanced polish can cover up the tightly coiled piles of eye-rolling cliches in that movie, but, if you can suspend disbelief and become THAT astounded to let everything else slide, congratulations. You are probably a less jaded person and happier movie patron than I am. I tend to overlook the ‘pretties’ and in no way think they can save a movie or video game from its lack of substance, but I can see how people do. Michelle Rodriguez DID have a singlet that was ripped at the cleavage. No reason why, no visible struggle where said garment’s structural integrity could have been compromised. Military-grade, all-purpose, pilot-standard, slightly-torn-at-boobs white singlet. I noticed that straight away, but only mentioned it mid-furious rant this morning.

I mean, really… “Unobtainium“? I think “Plot Item somewhat relevant for now, but not so much later, when we forget why they’re invading at all” didn’t fit the dialogue as well, though thinking about it a little more, it might have been fine. Just fine.

I finished my Twitter365 project yesterday. Rather than a blathering, overly emotional, dramatic recount of my trials and tribulations in doing such a task, I’m going to be stupidly brief.

This was a really odd challenge for someone like me to take up. I don’t know anything about photography, and I tend to despise most forms of attention and like to keep to myself. Im sure some people view it as some sort of journey of self discovery. I already know who I am, I know what I do. I tried to really have fun with it. Sometimes successfully, sometimes it’s just so annoying that you wish Flanders would just shut up.

Other than the obvious group challenges, inanimate object and tired pictures, people get you through. A few people in particular have really helped me finish, and without getting too emo, thanks guys.

Ali

Also, thankyou to Monnie, who got me started, and anyone who threw in comments on pics. Much love homies, much love.

Those that did, thanks for watching. Those that didn’t…. well…. as you were.
